Spokane Convention Center Mission Statement
To provide excellent physical surroundings, equipment, and support services to conventions, trade shows, consumer shows, events and local celebrations -striving toward a balance of all, but maintaining a thrust toward attracting out-of-town visitors, thereby maximizing community economic impact.
The Spokane Convention Center campus sits along the banks of the Spokane River and affords users beautiful views of the 100-acre Riverfront Park and direct access to the Centennial Trail. The campus includes the INB Performing Arts Center and the Spokane Convention Center, with the focal point being the new Group Health Exhibit Hall. The 100,160 square foot elliptically shaped facility was completed in June, 2006, well ahead of schedule. The Group Health Exhibit Hall can accommodate thousands of people for trade shows, community events, sporting events, meetings and banquets. The Hall includes a beautifully finished lobby area which offers a scenic view of the Spokane River through floor-to-ceiling windows.
A recent renovation of the Spokane Convention Center, complteted in May, 2007, offers more than 164,307 square feet of user friendly meeting space. The facility includes 24 state of the art breakout rooms, including the Conference Theatre. The Conference Theatre is perfect for multimedia presentations for up to 270 people. It offers front and rear screen projection, teleconferencing and simultaneous translation capabilities. In addition, there will be a 25,310 square foot, fully finished ballroom that is divisible into three sections as well as three Bays that can be joined together to create a 13,730 square foot ballroom for meetings, trade shows or banquets. The INB Performing Arts Center, which is adjacent to the Spokane Convention Center, has a 2,700 seat auditorium with a built in stage, perfect for performances or plenary sessions.
For warm weather events, there is the spectacular Roof Deck, with a panoramic view of the river and Riverfront Park, perfect for up to 500 people for a stand-up reception. Other outdoor spaces include the Arbor, located right on the Centennial Trail, the grassy Plaza directly in front of the Group Health Exhibit Hall and the INB Performing Arts Center Breezeway.
Group Health Exhibit Hall
The 100,000 sf elliptically-shaped facility was completed in June 2006, just in time for the 2007 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. This new facility will create a thousand new hospitality jobs for Spokane area residents.
Groundbreaking officially began on July 1st, Kevin Twohig, Spokane Public Facilities District Board of Directors, along with Mayor Jim West and John Brewer of the Spokane Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau (via telephone) spoke at the groundbreaking.
Architects for the Group Health Exhibit Hall, are Integrus Architecture of Spokane and LMN Architects of Seattle. The General Contractor/Construction Manager team is a joint venture of Hoffman Construction of Portland, and Bouten Construction of Spokane.
Along with the Group Health Exhibit Hall, remodeling of the existing Convention Center will be completed in the Spring of 2007, adding more meeting rooms and banquet facilities.
Spokane's newly expanded Convention Center will place the Spokane region in the forefront for attracting major national and regional conventions, expositions and trade shows in direct competition with markets in Seattle, Portland, Salt Lake City and Boise. Its new size also will allow for local organizations to hold simultaneous meetings, graduations and other events at the same time as major conventions.
